The Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday advanced three USDA nominations by voice vote during a brief meeting held off the Senate floor. The nominees are Mindy Brashears, for undersecretary for food safety; Naomie Earp, for assistant secretary for civil rights; and Scott Hutchins, for undersecretary for research, education and economics. Each had previously been advanced last year but were not voted on before the end of the Congressional session.
The nominees will now face a vote by the full Senate, however Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he could not provide an estimate of when the full vote would occur. The nominations will be added to the floor calendar, but McConnell noted the chamber has a packed calendar.share on facebook share on twitter
