Trade Data for March 2019 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through March 31, 2019, is now available. Beef and pork export volumes both were down slightly from January through March of 2018, and beef and pork value each decreased over the same period. Beef export volumes fell 3% and pork export volumes fell 6%. Total beef export value fell 1%, while total pork export value decreased 14% from January through March 2018. U.S. beef export volume and value to the Dominican Republic rose from this point last year 71% and 65%, respectively, while Hong Kong recorded the largest decreases among market destinations-down 36% in volume and 30% in sales. Meanwhile, the U.S. pork market in Chile rose sharply, with volumes up 96% and sales up 73% over last year. Export volumes were also significantly higher in Australia (30%), Columbia (21%) and the Dominican Republic (15%). Pork export values recorded similar increases in those markets.
