Wednesday, May 15, 2019

(North American Meat Institute)

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), in communications with Meat Institute staff, clarified procedures exporters should follow to obtain radiation letters. Radiation letter requests should include the U.S. company name, U.S. address, U.S. phone number and U.S. point of contact name. Requests also should stipulate the agricultural commodity being exported, the export destination and the number of radiation letters needed - the limit is 50. Exporters are required to submit radiation letter requests on company letterhead to the FAS Processed Products and Technical Regulations Division (PPTRD). PPTRD will issue radiation letters via UPS for agricultural food and feed products only. Companies are required to send a UPS label along with their radiation letter requests to pptrd@fas.usda.gov.
