IPPE Week Kicks Off

The meat and poultry industry will gather this week in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2019 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), scheduled to take place February 12 – February 14, at the Georgia World Congress Center. This year’s event will feature a record 1,400 exhibitors, 31,000 attendees and 600,000 square feet of exhibit space. The 2019 IPPE also includes more than 100 hours of free and paid meat-specific education sessions , with workshops addressing meat quality, international trade, labeling, family business succession planning and regulatory compliance, among other topics.

Popular events, including beef and pork cutting demonstrations, the Taste of IPPE Cooking Competition and a welcome reception at the Georgia Aquarium, will once again return for the 2019 show. Attendees can download a free mobile app for iPhones and Androids , complete with exhibitor information, education program details and other relevant show materials.

NAMI members are invited to attend the Institute’s Annual Awards Ceremony and Luncheon, which is scheduled to take place from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on February 12, at the Georgia World Congress Center, and will feature Meat Institute Board of Directors, key industry leaders, representatives from packer and processor companies and award nominees and their families.

NAMI also will sponsor the Meat Industry Hall of Fame Reception and Dinner February 11 at 6 p.m. at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta. Meat Institute President and CEO Julie Anna Potts will keynote the event. Former NAMI President and CEO Barry Carpenter will be honored with the Richard E. Lyng Award for Public Service. Additional honorees include David McDonald, president and chief operating officer of OSI Group; Shane MacKenzie, executive vice president of operations for Superior Farms; and Doug Sutton, vice president of research and development for Smithfield Foods. The Environmental Conference for the Meat and Poultry Industry and the Worker Safety Conference for the Meat and Poultry Industry are both co-located with the 2019 IPPE, and are scheduled to take place February 11-12 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The Meat Institute membership booth is located at space B3851 on the show floor and is open during regular show hours. A member reception will be held in the NAMI booth from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13. An interactive floor plan is available here.
