Trade Data Through October 2018 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through October 31, 2018, is now available. Beef and pork export volume and value were higher than a year ago. Beef export value increased 17 percent compared to 2017 levels, representing the second-highest monthly value on record, while pork export value rose one percent compared to the same period in 2017. Total beef export volume increased nine percent compared to 2017, while total pork export volume rose one percent over 2017 levels. U.S. beef exports to Taiwan rose 36 percent in value and 34 percent in volume compared to 2017, while beef exports to South Korea increased 35 percent in volume and 47 percent in value. In addition, U.S. pork exports to South Korea rose significantly compared to 2017 levels, increasing 41 percent in volume and 44 percent in value, respectively. U.S. pork exports to China have slowed as a result of retaliatory tariffs, declining 27 percent in volume and 11 percent in value compared to 2017.
