Worker Safety Award Applications Now Open

The Meat Institute is now accepting applications for its Worker Safety Awards Program. The application period will close September 28. The awards recognize meat and poultry plants that have achieved high levels of workplace safety performance as part of the industry's continuing effort to reduce occupational injury and illness rates. Eligible plants will be evaluated on their actual safety performance and their implementation of key components of an effective safety and health program as measured by the safety program questionnaire. Applications will be accepted from plants with North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes 311611, 311612 and 311615. The application fee is $310 for NAMI members and $410 for non-members.

Applications submitted should cover the 12-month period September 1, 2017, through August 31, 2018. This timeframe will allow the Meat Institute to present the awards at the 2019 Worker Safety Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
