USDA, FDA to Hold Joint Public Meeting on the Use of Cell Culture Technology

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will host a joint public meeting October 23-24, 2018, to discuss the use of cell culture technology to develop products derived from livestock and poultry. The first day of the meeting will focus primarily on the potential hazards associated with the production of animal cell cultured food products and oversight considerations by regulatory agencies. The second day will address labeling considerations. Interested attendees are encouraged to pre-register here . Written comments may be submitted through November 26, 2018. Comments previously submitted to FDA regarding the July 12, 2018, public meeting will also be considered.
