Friday, August 10, 2018

(North American Meat Institute)

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) extended the compliance date for certain ancillary requirements of the general industry beryllium standard to December 12, 2018. The extension applies to provisions covering methods of compliance, beryllium work areas, regulated areas, personal protective clothing and equipment, hygiene areas and practices, housekeeping, communication of hazards and recordkeeping. The extension does not apply to the new permissible exposure limits for general industry, construction and shipyards, or to the general industry provisions for exposure assessment, respiratory protection, medical surveillance and medical removal, which OSHA began enforcing on May 11, 2018.
