Trade Data Through January 2018 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through January 31, 2018, is now available . Beef and pork export values were both above 2017 totals. Beef export value increased 21 percent compared to 2017 levels, while pork export value rose seven percent compared to the same period in 2017. Total beef export volume increased nine percent compared to 2017, while total pork export volume remained largely unchanged. U.S. beef exports to China/Hong Kong showed significant growth, increasing 51 percent in volume and 68 percent in value compared to January 2017. In addition, U.S. pork exports to Japan and South Korea rose significantly compared to 2017 levels, increasing 17 percent and 20 percent in value, respectively.
