Trade Data Through February 2017 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through February 28, 2017, is now available. Beef and pork export values were both above 2016 totals. Beef export value increased 17 percent compared to 2016 levels, while pork export value rose 22 percent compared to the same period in 2016. Total beef and pork export volumes also both increased compared to 2016 figures. Beef export volume rose 13 percent, while pork export volume increased 18 percent compared to 2016 totals. U.S. beef exports to Japan showed significant growth, increasing 41 percent in volume and 44 percent in value compared to the same period in 2016. In addition, U.S. pork exports to Colombia and Chile rose markedly compared to 2016 levels, increasing 102 percent and 117 percent in volume, respectively.
