2016 Year End Trade Data Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through December 31, 2016, is now available. Beef and pork export values were both above 2015 totals. Beef export value reached more than $6.3 billion, which represented a one percent increase from 2015 levels. Meanwhile, pork export value increased seven percent, totaling $5.94 billion in 2016. Total beef and pork export volumes also both increased compared to 2015 figures. Beef export volume rose 11 percent from 2015, while pork export volume increased eight percent compared to 2015 totals. U.S. beef exports to South Korea showed significant growth, increasing 42 percent in volume and 31 percent in value. In addition, U.S. pork exports to Hong Kong and China rose markedly compared to 2015 levels, increasing 59 percent in volume and 52 percent in value.
