Meat Institute Shares Details About Complimentary Education Sessions at IPPEFriday, December 9, 2016

The Meat Institute has confirmed speakers and agendas for four of the 11 education sessions it will sponsor at the 2017 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), the world's largest annual meat, poultry and feed industry trade show, scheduled for January 31 - February 2, 2017, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. NAMI and the American Meat Science Association (AMSA) will jointly host the Pork 101 education workshop , a four-hour, hands-on session offering attendees a brief look into AMSA's three-day Pork 101 Conference. The workshop will address quality and consistency issues in the pork industry, providing insight on the value differences in swine, pork carcasses, pork primals and processed pork products.
The Institute's Beef 101 session will provide an overview of the beef lifecycle, address common questions regarding beef production, discuss factors affecting beef quality and offer a unique demonstration of innovative beef cuts. Meanwhile, the Meat Industry Regulatory Update and Compliance Session will cover the major regulatory issues affecting meat processors in the past year and the challenges facing the meat and poultry industry in 2017. In addition, the session will provide an overview of common in-plant inspection and enforcement issues and discuss strategies to best respond to these matters. The Family Businesses Strategies for Success workshop will highlight some of the most pressing concerns facing family businesses in the meat industry, focusing on succession planning and family member employment, along with other related topics.
