The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published draft guidance regarding written disclosure statements required by four of the seven major Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) final rules. The draft guidance addresses provisions in the Preventive Controls for Human Food, Preventive Controls for Animal Food, Foreign Supplier Verification Program and Produce Safety rules. Each of these four rules requires disclosing the presence of hazards that have not been controlled. The draft guidance provides recommendations for describing the identified hazard and details the documentation required to make the disclosure. Comments on the draft guidance should be submitted by May 1, 2017. The law firm Hogan Lovells explains the draft guidance in more detail here .
