FSIS Names Chief Public Health Veterinarian

Dr. Parthapratim (Pat) Basu has been named Chief Public Health Veterinarian (CPHV) for the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). As the CPHV, Basu will serve as the lead resource for FSIS and its partners in domestic and international food safety issues involving zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance and other public health and One Health-related activities. Basu will also continue to serve as senior leader for chemistry, toxicology and related sciences in the Office of Public Health Science, a position he has held since 2011.
