General Session Speakers Announced for Meat Institute Annual Meeting and Outlook ConferenceFriday, July 22, 2016

NAMI announced featured speakers and general session topics for the upcoming Annual Meeting and Outlook Conference, scheduled to take place September 27-29, 2016, at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC.
A USDA leadership panel will feature Al Almanza, deputy under secretary for food safety; Craig Morris, deputy administrator, Livestock, Poultry and Seed Program, Agricultural Marketing Service; Larry Mitchell, administrator, Grain, Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration; Alexis Taylor, deputy under secretary for farm and foreign agricultural services; and Jack Shere, chief veterinary officer.
A separate session will address antibiotic use in animal agriculture. Speakers include Christine Hoang, assistant director, Division of Animal and Plant Health, American Veterinary Medical Association; and Del Holzer, director of meat and poultry, Global Food Industry Team, Elanco Animal Health.
Dick Finnegan, author and chief executive officer of C-Suite Analytics, will lead a discussion about ways in which companies can retain their best employees. Meanwhile, Scott Shearer, principal of The Bockorny Group, will provide a 2017 election outlook and Kathleen Merrigan, Ph.D., executive director of sustainability at George Washington University, will discuss the economics and implications of food waste.
