Deadline Today for 2008 Environmental Recognition Awards (MAPS)Monday, April 28, 2008
(American Meat Institute)
Applications for AMI’s 2008 Environmental Recognition Awards (MAPS) are due today. Award winners will be honored on June 5-6, 2008, as part of AMIF's Environmental Conference in Kansas City, Mo.
The Environmental Recognition Awards, launched in 2005, recognize the efforts of member companies to reduce their environmental footprint through the development and implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS). The program consists of four tiers, each with specific criteria related to the development and implementation of an EMS. The flexibility allows individual plants to tailor an EMS to their needs, budget and capacity. Those plants that have successfully implemented the requirements for each tier will be recognized through the awards program. Last year, 129 plants from 10 companies achieved one or more of the four EMS tiers.
