New Grassroots System Launched With Letter to Lawmakers About Prompt and Complete Publication of StudiesThursday, May 5, 2016
(North American Meat Institute)
The Meat Institute today unveiled its new grassroots system and urged members to send letters to lawmakers encouraging them, in their oversight role, to press government agencies that provide research grants to require that results from studies they fund be published completely, and in a timely manner. The Institute launched the letter-writing effort in response to the recent publication of a major study, conducted in Minnesota in the late 1960s, which concluded that saturated fat did not cause coronary heart disease, a finding that contradicted the conventional wisdom at the time. Immediate publication of the study, NAMI posited, could have altered the course of public policy.
The new system requires an initial three minute sign-up process for first time users. Subsequent letters can be sent even more quickly.share on facebook share on twitter
