The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) announced details on the third public meeting to discuss the memorandum entitled, “Modernizing the Regulatory System for Biotechnology Products.” The memorandum initiates a process to modernize the federal regulatory system for biotech products and establishes mechanisms for periodic updates to that system. The meeting will be held March 30, 2016, at the University of California-Davis Conference Center in Davis, California, and will review progress made regarding efforts to modernize the regulatory system for biotechnology products. Representatives from the departments and agencies also will discuss the current roles and responsibilities of EPA, FDA and USDA regarding biotechnology products by examining eight hypothetical case studies.
