Updates to Microbiology Laboratory Guidebook Now Available

(North American Meat Institute)The Microbiology Laboratory Guidebook 4 Appendix 1.03 Salmonella Serotypes Reportable by Molecular Detection has been revised to include 11 additional serotypes. The Guidebook contains current protocols for analytical tests required by Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) regulatory activities on meat, poultry and egg products. The Salmonella serotypes validated for testing by molecular detection include Bareilly, Bovismorbificans, Braenderup, Eko, Herston, Idikan, Indiana, Lexington, Manhattan, Rissen and Tennessee. FSIS will begin using these methods April 11, 2016.
