(North American Meat Institute)

The Foundation for Meat and Poultry Research and Education, formerly the North American Meat Institute Foundation, on January 12, 2016, held its inaugural meeting of the Foundation’s Board of Directors in conjunction with NAMI’s Executive Board meeting in Palm Springs, California. The meeting served to discuss the Foundation’s structure, establish future priorities and approve research. Details on the research discussed will be forthcoming. The Foundation is a non-profit research, education and information organization established to study ways the meat and poultry industry can produce better, safer products and operate more efficiently. The Foundation engages leaders from industry, academia and government to advance scientific understanding related to food safety, nutrition, the environment and worker safety, among other issues. The Foundation’s Research Advisory Committee sets research priorities and directs research activities, and the Foundation annually sponsors education programming focused on improving product safety, humane animal handling, labor and employment issues, environmental concerns and product quality, among other topic areas.
