The U.S. House of Representatives last week approved a measure to overturn the Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corp of Engineers’ Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule, which expands federal jurisdiction over certain streams, ponds, wetlands, ditches and other features regulated under the Clean Water Act. The House passed the resolution by a margin of 253 to 166, with the support of 12 Democrats. The measure passed the Senate by a 53 to 44 vote in November. President Obama is expected to veto the measure, effectively keeping the WOTUS regulation in place. Neither the House nor the Senate have the two-thirds majority needed to override the veto.
