IPPE Convenes Next Week

The meat and poultry industry will gather next week in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2016 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), scheduled to take place January 26-28 at the Georgia World Congress Center. This year's event will feature a record-breaking 1,300 exhibitors and is expected to attract more than 28,000 industry professionals from over 100 countries. The 2016 IPPE also includes a large offering of free and paid meat-specific education sessions, with workshops addressing Food Safety and Inspection Service Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points validation, challenges and opportunities in meat product traceability and media training for meat and poultry industry professionals, among numerous other sessions. There are several special events scheduled, including a chili cookoff and a networking reception at the Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium. NAMI members are invited to attend the Institute’s inaugural Annual Awards Ceremony and Luncheon, which is scheduled to take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on January 26, 2016, at the Georgia World Congress Center, Room B-206, and will feature Meat Institute Board of Directors, key industry leaders, representatives from packer and processor companies and award nominees and their families. The Master of Ceremonies will be comedian and best-selling author James Cunningham, host of the television series Eat St. NAMI also will present the recipients of the Environmental Recognition Awards, which are given to companies that demonstrate a dedication to continuous environmental improvement, as witnessed by the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems.
