Ministers from the 12 Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) countries are expected to meet this February to confirm the wording of the final trade agreement in a signing ceremony scheduled to be held either in the U.S. or New Zealand. The signing of the agreement will commence domestic efforts to approve and ratify the TPP in each of the participating countries. TPP is projected to add $225 billion to the global gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025, and $77 billion to US GDP. The agreement will cover nearly 40 percent of the global economy and is expected to boost U.S. agricultural trade by six percent over the next nine years.
