Two NAMI Education Sessions Announced for 2016 IPPE

The Meat Institute will sponsor a regulatory update and compliance session and a media training for the meat and poultry industry at the 2016 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), scheduled to take place January 26-28, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The regulatory update and compliance session, scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, will cover pertinent regulatory issues facing the meat and poultry industry and will provide an overview of many Food Safety and Inspection Service tools, including Noncompliance Reports, Notice of Intended Enforcements, Food Safety Assessments and Hazard Analysis Verification tasks. The session also will look in depth at Salmonella in the meat industry and its effect on in-plant practices, regulations and public health. NAMI's Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and General Counsel Mark Dopp and Vice President of Regulatory Services Norm Robertson lead the session, which is free to all registered IPPE attendees.

The media training, scheduled to take place January 27 from 1 to 5 p.m., will cover essential message development and interview techniques, with opportunities to practice these skills on camera. Professional media experts will also be available to provide feedback in an effort to equip participants with the necessary skills to advance their companies' message and better navigate through a crisis. NAMI's Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Janet Riley and Vice President of Public Affairs Eric Mittenthal will lead the training. The workshop costs $150 for all registered IPPE attendees.
