IOM Announces Webinar to Address Food Waste

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is hosting a webinar October 20, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET, to review current issues and emerging opportunities regarding strategies to reduce and manage food waste. The webinar will discuss the health, environmental, social and economic impacts of food waste, while also addressing major contributors to waste across the food supply chain and detailing ways to measure and quantify waste. Featured speakers include Dana Gunders, staff scientist, Natural Resources Defense Council; Gail Tavill, vice president of sustainable development, ConAgra Foods; Frank Yiannas, vice president of food safety, Wal-Mart; and Elise Golan, director for sustainable development, USDA.
