FSIS Issues Correction to Proposed Rule on Needle- and Blade-Tenderized Beef Products

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

(North American Meat Institute)

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a correction to the preamble of a proposed rule " Descriptive Designation for Needle- or Blade-Tenderized (Mechanically Tenderized) Beef Products " that subsequently became final earlier this year and affects the labeling requirements for raw or partially cooked needle- and blade-tenderized beef products, including beef products injected with a marinade or solution. The correction removes a clerical error that appeared in the Paperwork Reduction Act section of the preamble to proposed rule and was not included in the final rule. Engeljohn, Ph.D., assistant administrator, Office of Policy and Program Development, FSIS, USDA, 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20250-3700, or call 202/205-0495.
