At a special ceremony during Friday night's Cleveland Indians game, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC) awarded the "best hot dog in baseball" award to the team and its Sugardale hot dog. The Indians earned the award as part of the MLB Madness Contest hosted by the NHDSC in March and April, where hot dog and baseball fans voted for their favorite baseball hot dogs in a March Madness-style tournament. As part of the celebration, the team also featured the NHDSC's hot dog etiquette video and various hot dog facts throughout the game. To help promote the event, the NHDSC conducted several interviews with Cleveland media outlets including a live interview on one of the city's most popular sports radio shows and a story that appeared on Cleveland.com .
