Meat Institute Annual Hot Dog Lunch Returns to Capitol HillWednesday, July 22, 2015

NAMI's Annual Hot Dog Lunch will be held Wednesday, July 22, at the Rayburn House Office Building Courtyard from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The popular event celebrates July as National Hot Dog month and convenes more than 1,000 lawmakers, congressional staff, meat industry representatives and members of the media on Capitol Hill. Seven vendors are expected to serve more than 3,500 hot dog and sausage products in the company of three Major League Baseball legends: Tony Perez, Bill Buckner and Mookie Wilson.
Perez played first base for the Cincinnati Reds and is a seven-time All-Star who went on to win three World Series championship titles and earned a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Buckner is a former first baseman for the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, California Angels and Kansas City Royals. He was an All-Star and 1980 National League batting champion. Wilson played outfield for the New York Mets, was a key part of the 1986 World Series champion team and is a member of the Mets Hall of Fame.
This year's vendors include Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc.; Dietz &; Watson, Inc.; Hofmann Sausage Company, LLC; Hormel Foods Corporation; Land O'Frost, Inc.; Smithfield Foods, Inc.; and Tyson Foods, Inc. The event is co-sponsored by American Bakers Association, American Beverage Association, Diageo, Hormel Foods Corporation, International Bottled Water Association and Snack Food Association.
As part of this year's celebration, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council ran a hot dog slogan bumper sticker contest . The best submissions were featured as finalists on the NHDSC Facebook page , and the winner will be announced Wednesday.share on facebook share on twitter
