The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) extended the compliance date by one year for the final rule requiring the disclosure of nutrition information for standard menu items in certain restaurants and retail food establishments. Covered establishments must now comply with the rule by December 1, 2016. FDA also announced plans to issue a draft guidance document in August 2015 to further assist covered establishments in complying with the rule. In addition to the guidance, FDA will offer education and technical assistance for the covered businesses and for its state, local and tribal regulatory partners.
