In a national release, the Meat Institute highlighted the popularity of classic hot dogs and hamburgers this grilling season. Americans are projected to eat seven billion hot dogs, or 818 per second, between Memorial Day and Labor Day. According to data from the Beef Checkoff, almost half of consumers (46.3 percent) say they are most looking forward to eating beef this summer grilling season, with hamburgers cited as the most popular beef product.
The release also highlighted the Meat Institute's and National Hot Dog and Sausage Council's (NHDSC) numerous resources for those looking for more information about meat grilling tips. These include videos on how hamburgers and hot dogs are made, as well as tips on how to properly use a meat thermometer to ensure meats are cooked to the appropriate internal temperature. The Meat Institute will share grilling resources throughout the summer on its Celebrate Meat Facebook page, which now has more than 23,000 likes.
