House Passes Bill to Withdraw EPA's WOTUS RuleMonday, May 18, 2015

The House of Representatives last week passed a bill requiring the EPA to withdraw its proposed Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule in a vote of 261-155. The Regulatory Integrity Protection Act of 2015 mandates that the EPA consult with states and industry to develop a new proposed rule defining the bodies of water that should and should not be regulated. The ambiguous language in the current WOTUS rule would allow the EPA to expand its jurisdiction over certain bodies of water, with serious implications for agriculture.
The Senate is expected to take up the legislation, which, if passed, would be vetoed by the President.share on facebook share on twitter
