FSIS Issues Notice on Availability of Final HACCP Systems Validation Guideline

USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a notice informing FSIS field personnel that the final version of the FSIS Compliance Guideline: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Systems Validation published in the Federal Register. FSIS will not begin verifying whether large establishments meet the validation requirements until January 4, 2016, and will not begin verifying at small and very small establishments until April 4, 2016. At this time field personnel should not conduct new verification or enforcement activities concerning validation. The Meat Institute also published a memorandum analyzing this notice.
