In response to a request submitted by NAMI, USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) extended the deadline to comment on its analysis of the estimated costs and benefits associated with the implementation of its non-O157 Shiga Toxin-Producing E. coli (STEC) testing of beef manufacturing trimmings and the potential expansion of its non-O157 STEC testing to ground beef and ground beef components other than beef manufacturing trimmings. FSIS initially set a deadline of January 20, 2015, to receive all public comments. The new deadline to submit comments is February 19, 2015.
