Vilsack Appoints Betsy Booren, Ph.D., to NACMPIMonday, December 22, 2014

Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack appointed NAMI Vice President of Scientific Affairs Betsy Booren, Ph.D., to the National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection (NACMPI) for the 2014-2016 term. NACMPI is a 17-member committee that meets on food safety concerns and advises the secretary of agriculture on matters affecting federal and state inspection program activities. The committee also contributes to USDA's regulatory policy development.
NACMPI will hold its next public meeting on January 13-14, 2015. The meeting will focus on USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service's (FSIS) evaluation and management of chemical hazards within the National Residue Program, as well as the Economic Research Service's Cost Calculation Model. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Patriots Plaza III Building located at 355 E St. SW, Washington, D.C. 20024, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 13, and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 14.
