APHIS Amends Final Rule on the Importation of Uncooked Pork and Pork Products

(American Meat Institute)On April 2, 2008, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced it is amending the regulations for importing animal products.  This amendment amends 9 CFR sections 94.9(e) and 94.17 and allows the importation of uncooked pork and pork products from regions where classical swine fever (CSF) is considered to exist if the uncooked pork and pork products originate in a region free of CSF and meet certain other conditions with respect to processing and shipping.  The amendment takes effect May 2, 2008.  For further information, contact Dr. Masoud A.
