AMI Joins CDC Holiday Food Safety Twitter Chat

AMI joined the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and others for a holiday food safety twitter chat. The chat addressed common food safety tips and ways to prevent foodborne illness, such as proper thermometer use in meat and poultry products. AMI shared its resources including its thermometer video , which was retweeted by CDC to more than 518,000 twitter followers, and also addressed questions and confusion over antibiotic use in animals and its impact on the safety of meat and poultry products. Overall, the chat had a potential reach of 127 million with 2,556 Twitter mentions from 669 users.
