The U.S. filed its appeal of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) ruling in favor of Canada and Mexico's dispute of the country-of-origin labeling (COOL) rule. Details of the appeal have not been made available at this point.
In a statement, AMI's Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and General Counsel Mark Dopp said, "USTR's decision to appeal the WTO's COOL ruling is entirely expected, and does nothing to alter the underlying situation. As Secretary Vilsack recently stated, COOL requires a statutory change. We look forward to working with Congress to fix COOL once and for all, so that the United States comes into compliance with our trade obligations and we restore our strong relationship with our most important trading partners."share on facebook share on twitter
