In a blog for Meatingplace, AMI Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Member Services Janet Riley shared the concerning contradictions from the recent New York Times Food for Tomorrow Conference. While the conference purported to develop a vision for a better food system, discussion seemed more rooted in perception than real data and facts -- like claims that we eat too much meat when federal dietary data shows it’s the only food consumed at the proper levels. Times columnist Mark Bittman called for a war against the food industry, while conference organizers took sponsorship from the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance.
