EPA Announces Delay in Issuing 2014 Standards for Renewable Fuel StandardMonday, November 24, 2014

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said it will not release the 2014 applicable percentage standards under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program before the end of 2014. EPA attributes the delay to the extensive comments and controversy surrounding the decision. The agency instead plans to issue the 2014 standards in 2015 prior to or in conjunction with action on the 2015 standards rule.
The rule was originally proposed in November 2013 and would lower the blending requirements of the 2014 RFS to 15.21 billion gallons, a reduction in the congressional mandate by about three billion gallons.
AMI criticized the delay saying, "EPA's decision to once again delay the final 2014 RFS rule breeds uncertainty in the marketplace and demonstrates compliance challenges related to the current rigid RFS mandate."
