Business Groups Urge White House to Help Resolve West Coast Port Labor DisputeWednesday, November 12, 2014

AMI joined more than 100 associations representing U.S. manufacturers, farmers, wholesalers, retailers, importers, exporters, and transportation and logistics providers in sending a letter to President Obama expressing deep concern about ongoing interruptions at West Coast port terminal operations and to seek help to ensure the situation does not escalate to a complete shutdown of West Coast ports. The letter says there has been a crisis level of congestion at ports since September and the two sides appear to be at increasing odds with each other.
"The threat of a West Coast port shutdown is creating high levels of uncertainty in a fragile economic climate which has forced many businesses to once again undertake contingency plans that come at a significant cost to jobs and our economic competitiveness," the letter says.share on facebook share on twitter
