The AMI Foundation Animal Care and Handling Conference drew more than 250 people to Kansas City last week to learn about new developments in animal care and handling. In Meat We Trust book author Maureen Ogle keynoted the event, tracing Americans' love of meat and growing disconnection from the farm as a key communications challenge. This year's conference featured a half day poultry track and another half day track geared at small plants.
