AMI Vice President of International Trade Bill Westman joined stakeholders at a special forum which coincided with the seventh round of U.S. - EU negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) agreement. In remarks at the forum, Westman outlined U.S. food and agriculture interests in the negotiations including requests for elimination of all import duties in the shortest time period possible; "single undertaking" negotiations whereby all sectors and chapters are negotiated and finalized concurrently; and the need for science-based decision-making, not the precautionary principle or cultural preferences as the basis of the deal.
Westman said, "Trade between the EU and the US in food and agricultural products has not reached its full potential, especially for meat and poultry. There is no question that given the size of our respective agricultural sectors we can improve our bilateral trade."share on facebook share on twitter
