FSIS Issues Questions and Answers for Directive 6100.4, & Provides Updated List of New TechnologiesFriday, February 29, 2008
(American Meat Institute)The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS or
the agency) has issued Questions and Answers
regarding FSIS Directive 6100.4, Verification
Instructions Related to Specified Risk
Materials. The Questions and Answers are
meant to give additional clarification on the
Directive. The questions follow the same
format as the Directive and are divided into
chapters that correspond with those in the
Directive. Additional topics not in the
Directive have also been included. To

The agency has also updated its list of new technologies for use in meat and poultry establishments. FSIS maintains a chart on its website that gives a brief summary describing some of the new technologies that it has received and reviewed, and for which FSIS has "no objection" to use in establishments.
