The Chinese government approved several domestic companies to buy U.S. products - including cotton, corn, sorghum and pork - with lower or no retaliatory tariffs. A number of companies will be exempt from the tariffs on American pork, corn, and sorghum, according to a Bloomberg report, but the volume and products covered were not specified. U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are set to travel to China on today, July 29, for face-to-face talks. More details will be shared as information becomes available.
