China Halts All Meat Imports From Canada.

China has suspended all meat imports from Canada after an investigation into ractopamine findings in a batch of Canadian pork products turned up counterfeit veterinary health certificates, according to a Chinese Embassy statement. The embassy said 188 forged certificates were discovered. This comes after China's decision the week prior to block pork imports from Canadian firm Frigo Royal after Chinese customs found a shipment containing ractopamine - a feed additive banned in many countries, including China, but permitted in Canada. Two months earlier, China halted pork imports from two other Canadian producers - Olymel and Drummond Export - due to labelling problems. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) accepted the Chinese request and stopped issuing the certificates for all beef and pork exports. China was Canada's third largest export market last year, according to Canadian Pork International.
