U.S. Beef and Poultry Exports Gain Access to Tunisian Market. U.S. beef and poultry products are now eligible for export to Tunisia. The agreement reached between the two countries allows for all U.S. bovine meat and bovine-based meat products, including all parts of domestic cattle that are suitable for human consumption, to be exported to Tunisia. Meanwhile, all poultry and poultry-based meat products are also eligible for export, with the exception of fresh and frozen poultry and poultry products derived from birds raised or slaughtered in Riverside County, California as of December 14, 2018. The Food Safety and Inspection Service Export Library has been updated to include the new requirements for beef and poultry exports to Tunisia. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative estimates Tunisia will import annually $5-10 million in beef, poultry and egg products from the U.S., with additional growth expected over time. The Meat Institute applauded the opening of the Tunisian market in a statement last week.
